What to Check on your Jaguar
Your car has different components, and these parts work hand-in-hand to ensure the quality and performance of your car. Some of the parts you may want to check include:
- The Fluids: At least once a month, ensure you check your car’s engine oil, coolant, and brake fluid levels. Another fluid you must check is the transmission fluid, which is better checked when the engine is warm. The essence of checking this fluid is to ensure that it is not above the maximum mark or below the minimum mark. If you notice a drastic drop in the levels of these fluids, contact a professional car repair service for immediate inspection since fluid leaks can be very costly.
- The Tires: Check all four tires every morning before driving to see if any tire is flat (or relatively soft to the touch). This may indicate a drop in the tire pressure. In the case of any disturbing signs, call a professional for help. Never try to drive your Jaguar with a faulty tire.
- Dashboard Indicators: These are mostly overlooked, so you must pay attention to the lights on your dashboard. Each symbol represents different things, and all these lights signal a major issue when on. Some of the most pressing lights are the check engine light, oil check light, fuel level, temperature level, brake fluid light, and so on.
What to Check Periodically
Besides the regular checks, here are the things you should have checked by professionals:
- Tires: While you may be checking your tires daily, it is essential to schedule tire maintenance weekly, either for replacement, alignment, balancing, or maintenance.
- Engine air filter: Your engine air filter can get dirty or clogged over time, especially if you drive in dusty areas. Therefore, to ensure your engine’s longevity, schedule a time once every month to get your engine’s air filter cleaned or replaced. It is also important to change the air filter during engine servicing, which should be once every six months.
- Brake system: While you need to check the fluid daily, you can leave the other systems for monthly checkups. Parts like the brake pad, linings, disc, and so on can be replaced every three months (depending on your driving habits).
- Belt and Hose: Don’t wait until you start to hear weird sounds; change your car’s belts and hoses every month to ensure that other parts of your car function well.
- Fluid Flush: Even if the fluids in your car remain at the right level, you should change it for completely new content every six months.
- Spark Plugs: While this is usually checked during engine servicing, it is advisable to replace your car’s plugs with completely new ones every year. It’s better to prevent the problem than wait for the plugs to fail before changing them.
- Battery: No matter how great your car’s battery is, change it as soon as it reaches three years old.
